Writer and seeker of truth..

WRITING IS HAPPINESS

For me, writing is what “makes my day”.  It is a part of me that will never be completely finished.

Each time I write an article my thoughts expand, my mind concentrates and I feel “free” to share my most intimate thoughts with someone.  As one writer put it, “writing to me is the same as the ability to walk, talk, and think.” It gives the reader “bits of my soul, my heart, my mind and my spirit”.  It is a consummate part of me.

This world is full of any subject one can write about.  There is so much more information out there to research and, in doing so, I learn more about the world.  The nightly news gives us a “snapshot” of what is going on in the world at the moment.   To fully understand why it is happening, one must delve into more of the subject ourselves.

History gives us many lessons as to the outcome of the actions taken today that will affect the future.  Learning of countries where millions are starving puts us to action to get involved in helping to feed them. Learning millions are being murdered by their own government gets us involved to speak out against dictators and wars and, to help those who survive.  We are all capable of helping any of them if we open our hearts to the pain and suffering in this world.  It is easy to watch the news and then forget about it because we don’t have to deal with those life and death situations. However, there are people right here in America who need help  providing a home for their families, feeding them, getting them medical help, transportation, etc. so, the need is also here.  It’s up to each of us to do what we can to help humankind.

I will not be writing for a while as life has given me a health problem that needs attention.  God willing, it won’t be too long before I can get back to the pleasure of writing once again.

“NIGHT OWL”

I am “coming out of the closet” to reveal a much misunderstood genetic trait.

It’s time for all “night owls” to do the same.  We live in a world where our biological clock is not in sync with the rest of society and, we need all the support we can get.

As far back as I can remember, I always wondered why I was different.  Why I couldn’t go to sleep when the rest of the family did.  Oh, I would go to bed but not to sleep.  As a child, when the rest of the household was sound asleep, I was wide awake, basking in the stillness of the night.  This was MY time, when no one could interrupt my thoughts and my mind could take flight into the dreams of the future.

The abruptness of reality returned all too soon as each of my three siblings took turns trying to wake me as they left for the school day.  I would hear the first call, return to sleep and, only when I knew it was the last call would I get up.  It’s amazing, how, in a state of semi-consciousness, I managed to get myself dressed and to school on time.

I have tried all kinds of well meaning advice from friends to change this nocturnal schedule.   “Early to bed – Early to Rise” did not make me healthy, wealthy or wise.  It made me tired!

Although many years have since passed when I had no choice but to do with less sleep (marriage, children and work), I am still on the same biological clock and, still out of sync with the rest of society.  The big difference now is I don’t have to get up to take care of anyone.  I can sleep as late as I want.  Although my friends and family are accepting, I know they don’t fully understand.

Nothing can change my “inner clock”.  It is set on “permanent” and does not have an alarm that goes off just because I have to get up early.  It is part of my total makeup.  I cannot change this genetic trait any more than a person could change brown eyes to blue by wishing it so.

There is  a “medical” term for this.  It is called “circadian rhythm ”.   It explains this as an inability to fall asleep at a desired, “conventional” clock time and awaken at a “socially acceptable” morning time.

‘When allowed to choose their preferred sleep schedule”, people exhibit sleep of normal quality and duration for their age and maintain a stable but delayed “relationship of entertainment” to the 24 hour, sleep-wake patterns.  The “circadian clock” is not in phase with, and cannot be “entrained” to, the 24 hour light-dark cycle.

BACK TO THE 1800’s

America has regressed to the 1800’s and early 1900’s. The Edwardian Era of Britain.  At that time the “Aristocracy” (wealthy families with Manor houses and vast estates) determined the fate of all other citizens of Britain.  Since only land owners could vote, this entitled the aristocracy to sit in the House of Lords (Britain’s upper house of government) and veto any law they didn’t like.  Powerful families ran the country from these estates.  They would invite the “power brokers” to their estates for the week-end to “lobby” them on what laws to pass.  Does this sound familiar?  It should!

Today wealthy families and corporations determine the fate of the citizens of the United States.  Especially since the United States Supreme Court has “entitled” them the right to spend as much money as they want to “buy elections”.  These wealthy families and corporations lobby the power brokers (members of congress) with invites to their “Manor Houses” and all paid expensive trips to any country they want to vacation in.  We have gone back to the time of the “Aristocracy” when the land owners controlled Britain!  This same control today by wealthy families and corporations is not only of the citizen of the United States.  It is the control of the presidency, congress and all federal, state and local elections.  Money buys votes!   The money spent on ads lying about the opposition can determine the outcome of any election.  Remember the “Swift Boat” Veterans untrue political ads about John Kerry in 2004?

How are “We The People” going to get our country back from these 2015 United States “Aristocrats”??

Recommended Posts on Reader – BahHumbug!

I just renewed my account and am back to WordPress.  I haven’t posted for a couple months and have not read the “Reader” either.

When I clicked on the Reader today, to my dismay, I found as many “Recommended Posts”  as there are of posts I follow.  I am so disgusted!  They are endless and no way to get rid of them.  Why am I paying for my posts when WP advertises other posts on the Reader?  Shame on WorldPress!

WHO IS NETANYAHU?

Who is Netanyahu?  Who is this self- serving, arrogant, dangerous man?  He has interfered in our foreign affairs, he has insulted the president of our country and now he is “summoning” the Ambassador’s from the countries (that have embassies in Israel) who voted for the U.N. Resolution to give them a “scolding”.  Adding insult to injury, Netanyahu called these Ambassadors in on Christmas Day!

Before I continue I would like to thank J Street and other Jewish organizations, as well as the majority of Jewish Americans who do not condone Netanyahu’s actions. In fact, a poll showed that 62 percent of Jewish voters agree with the U.N. resolution.  I believe it is necessary that the distinction between Jewish people and Netanyahu be clear.  Israeli’s want peace as much as the Palestinians do.  It is their leaders, not unlike some of our own, that keep us involved in these “killing wars”.

According to U.N. Ambassador to the U.N., Samantha Power said “Since the 1993 Oslo Accords, the number of settlers has increased by 355,000, bringing the total population of settlers in the West Bank and East Jerusalem to more than 590,000.”  Jeffrey Heller of Worldpost wrote “Israel has pursued a policy of constructing settlements on territory it captured in a 1967 war with its Arab neighbors – the West Bank, Gaza and East Jerusalem, areas Palestinians seek for a state.”  Netanyahu and some of his cronies have disavowed the two-state solution entirely.

Since 1967 every U.S. president before Obama has allowed the passage of a Security Council resolution that contained criticism of Israeli policy.  In 1980, the U.S. voted in favor of a resolution that not only said the settlements “have no legal validity” – but also called for their dismantlement.  For the past eight years Obama has “given in” to Netanyahu by allowing him to continue the settlements. Obama recently gave Netanyahu $38 billion in aid paid for by U.S. taxpayers without any “strings attached”. In fact, Obama has given Israel more aid than any other president.  Obama has in effect, been a “puppet” for Netanyahu. There are many things I didn’t know about Obama before.  With this U.N. Resolution I am learning what he didn’t do that he should have.  Now, he finally did the right thing.  I wonder if it is just because he is a “lame-duck” president and no longer cares about criticism. Of course, this will be a nice addition to his “legacy”.

Our friendship with Israel has been based on the fact they are the only democratic state in the Middle East and a “buffer” between us and the rest of the Middle East. Things have changed.

Thanks to G.W. Bush invading Iraq and Obama not only continuing that and the Afghanistan war but getting us involved in more wars in the Middle East (Libya and Syria).  I guess Israel is no longer our “buffer”.  In fact, with Netanyahu in charge, we are more likely to get involved in a nuclear war because of his determination to “rule” the Middle East.

Netanyahu has another “puppet” in President-elect Trump.  The problem is Trump could be as bad as Netanyahu. Trump says “things will be different at the U.N.” when he takes office.  I wouldn’t be too sure about that.  Trump, like Netanyahu, thinks all he has to do is “roar” and things will go his way.  Maybe this time, the American people, along with the U.N. will stop them both!

DOJ Bestows ‘Early Christmas Present’ to Financial Giant Deutsche Bank

German lender Deutsche Bank “got off easy” on Friday, having reached a $7.2 billion settlement with the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) over sales of mortgage-backed securities that fueled the financial crisis.
